Cats. Coffee. Spaceships. That Is All

Cats. Coffee. Spaceships. That Is All

Video by Tom Compagnoni

The idea of enjoying your morning coffee with a side of cat-petting might seem a little odd, but a new Sydney 'cat cafe' says it may be good for your health.

Catmosphere Sydney’s owner, Thomas Derricott, assures us it’s the "perfect marriage".

"Studies show that just 15 minutes spent with cats has psychological benefits," Derricott said. And it turns out he’s right. Studies have shown that on top of lowering stress levels, petting a cat can lower your chance of heart disease and improve your overall mental health. That said, it’s a pretty safe bet that hanging out with space cats is good for you. Especially when they’re all rescue kitties handpicked from the galaxy for their willingness to interact with humans.

Aside from the Star Wars-themed names, the similarities between Catmosphere and an actual spaceship are uncanny. Mostly to keep the cats as close to their natural habitat as possible. But also because, AIRLOCK!

We’re not going to say much else because Derricott pretty much sums it up with, "turns out Sydney has a lot of crazy cat people," but we will leave you with this...

As you were.
