We're less than a year out from the Rio Olympics and two of our biggest gold medal chances are ready to go.

We met hurdler Sally Pearson and cyclist Anna Meares -- both reigning Olympic champions from the 2012 London games -- to talk about their preparation for Brazil.

The star pairing will be among the athletes sharing their progress and preparation for the Olympics through the campaign. They were tight-lipped on what exactly that will entail, but both spoke of how powerful it can be for an athlete to know they have support coming from home.

"The journey I’m on is a four-year journey. It's a huge journey for me. If you can grab moments out of that and share with your fans or anyone who wants to be a part of it, it's something special. Then its not just about those two weeks at the Olympics, it's about what has happened along the way, and who the athlete is as a person," Pearson said.

"It's nice to get little comments. [To know that] people you've never met in your life are thinking of you, that's really special."

Meares echoed the same sentiments.

"Being so far from home, it will be nice to have little comforts of home. Australians are incredible supporters," she said.

"It will be a good opportunity for Sally and I, professional athletes who have a very healthy and active lifestyle, to show how we incorporate little treats into our lifestyle."

Pearson and Meares have also taken up new roles as ambassadors for Cadbury's "Bring On The Joy" campaign leading into the games.
