Police. They're the people who keep you safe, who watch over the community... and who apparently dad-dance like it's nobody's business in their spare time.
Officers and staff from the Wollongong local area command, south of Sydney, have dispensed with pride and flaunted their best moves from Aunty Mabel's 65th birthday party or Cousin Dave and Sarah's wedding reception to raise money for the Camp Quality Illawarra Convoy next month.
The convoy, an established tradition in the Illawarra, sees hundreds of trucks and motorcycles ride the length of the region to raise money for Camp Quality, which supports families and children living with cancer. In 2014, the 10th year of the convoy, the event raised more than $1.5 million for the charity.
To stump up funds for the entry fees to place some of their specialist vehicles in the convoy, the local police are crowd-funding donations and created the video -- set to 'Shake Your Groove Thing' -- to bring awareness to the campaign.
Wollongong Local Area Commander, Superintendent Kyle Stewart, said the event was one police loved to support.
“Camp Quality offer incredible support services for children and families living with cancer right across Australia,” Stewart said.
“I’m very proud of the police contingency who take part each year, with the 2014 team raising almost $24,000. I urge members of the public to get behind this worthy cause.”
