Dust storms in South Australia, frost-bitten trees in NSW, clouds over Queensland islands and lightning off the coast of Darwin -- they're just some of the stunning images selected for the Bureau of Meteorology’s 2016 Australian Weather Calendar.
The annual calendar is said to be the biggest-selling calendar in Australia, selling over 60,000 copies each year. It shows off the beauty and the terror of our wide brown land, with 13 images from every corner of the country.
“This multi-award-winning calendar provides a platform for the Australian community to connect with their environment through the art of photography, while serving as an educational resource on our unique weather and climate," said the Bureau's Deputy Director for Corporate Services, Vicki Middleton.
“This year we received more than 800 entries, which made it a really tough job to whittle down to the winning images."
