Streaker Crashes Sunrise's Melbourne Cup TV Broadcast

Streaker Crashes Sunrise's Live Melbourne Cup Interview

No doubt there are sore heads all through Melbourne after the festivities of yesterday's Melbourne Cup, but one man found the energy and bravado to wake up early and run nude through a morning TV broadcast.

Channel 7's Sunrise program was going live from Melbourne with some of the crew behind Prince of Penzance's stunning surprise win, with sports reporter Simon Reeve interviewing Paddy Payne, father of winning jockey Michelle Payne, and the horse's trainer Darren Weir.

A pale, naked man ran into the back of the shot, arms raised as in triumph, doing a quick lap in the background before disappearing behind a tree.

Luckily, a fortunately-placed fence blocked the more intimate areas of the man's body from the eyes of early morning viewers and school children preparing to leave home at 7am.

"Hang on!" the hosts in the studio called, dissolving into laughter as they saw the streaker on their own monitors.

Reeve himself, however, seemed totally oblivious until seconds later when he heard the voices of the in-studio hosts on his in-ear receiver.

"There's some shenanigans going on out there," he said, still not quite sure what was going on.
