Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar will play an exhibition cricket match in New York on Sunday in an effort to introduce sport of cricket to Americans.

The idea was the brain child of the two legends back in 2014 when they took on similar roles as opposing captains of invitational sides celebrating the 200th anniversary of the MCC in England.

They will be playing the T20 games as well as running some coaching clinics for kids and do not rule out unearthing some american talent among budding cricketers in the US.

Lining up as Sachin's Blasters and Warne's Warriors the two legends of the cricket world will play three Twenty20 matches over one week with a supporting cast that boasts names such as Ponting, Wasim Akram, Matty Hayden, VVS Laxman and Brian Lara.

Just like in the school yard at lunchtime, the draw was done, one player at a time, on Thursday in Time Square to see who gets which player in their team -- and there was a wealth of talent up for grabs.

When selections were finished the teams lined up like this:

Sachin's Blasters: Sachin Tendulkar (c), VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene, Carl Hooper, Lance Klusener, Shaun Pollock, Moin Khan, Graeme Swann, Glenn McGrath, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shoaib Akhtar, Curtly Ambrose

Warne's Warriors: Shane Warne (c), Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Michael Vaughan, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, Andrew Symonds, Jonty Rhodes, Saqlain Mushtaq, Wasim Akram, Daniel Vettori, Courtney Walsh, Allan Donald, Ajit Aga

The match will be the first of three taking place across the US in New York, Houston and Los Angeles.
