The Sydney Opera House headlined a list of iconic Australian landmarks that shone blue, white and red on Saturday evening as our nation united in the face of the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris.
In the Harbour City, the Sydney Opera House and George St's Town Hall were lit up with the French national colours, while a French flag also flew over the Harbour Bridge and NSW Parliament House.
NSW Premier Mike Baird posted a picture of the Opera House in an inspirational Facebook post:
Mr Baird joined hundreds of Sydneysiders at a vigil in Martin Place to remember some of the 140 victims killed in the six co-ordinated attacks.
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore tweeted her support:
A-League teams Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory -- usually bitter rivals and last season's grand final opponents -- put their differences aside to conduct a minute's silence during their clash at Allianz Stadium, which was confirmed by Sky Blues CEO Tony Pignata before the game.
Fans also waved French flags and signs depicting support of the victims of the Parisian attacks.
South Australians also stood in unity, illuminating Adelaide Oval and the Riverbank footbridge in red, white and blue.
