A hostage situation in the northern French town of Roubaix has ended, with the hostages now safe.
Several armed men took hostages in Roubaix, near the Belgium border in what local media were reporting as a botched robbery.
The BBC is reporting several people have been wounded by gunshots.

Reuters is quoting an unnamed source saying a family was being held hostage and medical services were at the scene.
Roubaix's mayor's office dismissed a link with the ongoing manhunt for the Paris terror suspects, confirming the incident was probably an armed robbery gone wrong.
