Psychedelic rockers Tame Impala have dominated the 2015 ARIA Awards, taking home the major gong for their stellar third album 'Currents'.
The Perth-based five-piece took home the coveted Album Of The Year for the second time in their career after winning in 2013 for sophomore record 'Lonerism'.
Tame Impala earlier scooped up Rock Album Of The Year and Best Group. 'Currents' features hit singles Let It Happen and Cause I'm A Man, and received raved reviews from the likes of The Guardian, Rolling Stone Australia and NME upon its July release.
The other big winner from the night was newcomer Courtney Barnett who took out three awards including Best Female Artist, Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Independent Release.
Other winners from the night included Conrad Sewell taking out Song of the Year as well as Vance Joy for Best Male Artist.
While red carpet arrivals were overtaken with young talent, Kylie Minogue proved she is still Australia’s pop Queen -- not only in the fashion stakes but in her innate ability to capture the room while she invited Cadel Evans onto the stage to join her in inducting Tina Arena into the Hall of Fame.
The connection? Arena witnessed Evans win the Tour de France in 2011 and spontaneously sang the Australian national anthem as he accepted his yellow jersey. Now he was returning the favour by being present at her life-changing moment.

“Young Talent Time was instrumental in getting me to the point where I am today. Thank you to Brian Cadd, who worked on my first song, Turn Up The Beat -- we had big ideas and even bigger hair,” Arena said as she accepted the award.
Arena also used her acceptance speech to pay tribute to women in the industry over 40.
“I want to also acknowledge the ladies over 40 who are still in the game in a big way. My darling friend behind me, Ms Kylie Minogue, the wonderful Madonna, J-Lo, Annie Lennox, my Lord, the list does go on,” Arena said.
