UFC President Dana White has confirmed Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm will fight again, after Holm knocked out the previously-unbeaten Rousey with a left kick last month in Melbourne.

The result sent shockwaves through the mixed martial arts, with fan favourite Rousey widely expected to defend her title with ease.

“Yeah, that fight’s going to happen. I don’t know when, but that’s the fight that’s going to happen,” White told ESPN.

“Ronda Rousey had gone undefeated, taken the sport to another level and was beating the best women in the world in 14 seconds or 30 seconds, so she deserves a rematch,” he said.

Rousey previously had an average match time of two minutes and 59 seconds, and had spent only 1077 seconds in the Octagon in total to notch up six wins.

The win gave Holm, a former professional boxer, the female bantamweight title.

“If we didn’t make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO and co-owner] Lorenzo [Fertitta] should probably lose our promoters’ licence,” White told ESPN.
