Mick Fanning Among Pro-Surfers In Rescue Mission Following Pipeline Wipeout

Mick Fanning Helps Rescue American Surfer After Wipeout In Hawaii

American pro surfer Evan Geiselman has been rescued by a group of surfers and lifeguards, including Mick Fanning, after a near-fatal wipeout at Pipeline in Hawaii.

According to reports, Geiselman was rushed to hospital following a 15-foot wave and a three-wave hold-down that left him unconscious.

He was allegedly found in the water by bodyboarding champion Andre Botha who swam him to shore.

Goldcoast surfer Fanning, known for his infamous shark encounter at Jeffrey’s Bay in South Africa, was seen running to the shorebreak to help attend to Geiselman. He was later taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Brother Eric Geiselman told surfing website, Riptide Mag: “Thanks to everyone -- especially Andre. He was truly Evan’s guardian angel.

"The surf community needs to remember to always take a minute to consider the consequences of every wave. Today we are very blessed to still have Evan with us."
