Independence Day 2 Trailer Dropped, And It Is Hectic

Plucky Band Of Earthlings Set To Save Us Again, 20 Years On, As Independence Day 2 Trailer Hints

No one wants to trample on anyone else's Star Wars buzz, but the Independence Day 2: Resurgence trailer just dropped and it looks epic.

It's been 20 years since Roland Emmerich's Independence Day re-energised the "space alien blowing up your stuff" genre.

When we last left our plucky band of earthlings, they'd barely survived beating back a bunch of resource-hungry aliens thanks to some pluck, some A-game speeching from Bill Pullman and a trusty computer virus.

Well, it turns out the aliens from the first film had a bigger, angrier squad in a spaceship half the size of planet earth and it's up the Liam Hemsworth and first film veteran Pullman and Jeff Goldblum to save the day from some bigger, angrier aliens.

After informing us we used alien tech to bolster our defences, the trailer reveals all our research and scavenging is for naught and we end up bringing an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6s Plus fight.

"Oh my God," grizzles Goldblum's David Levinson, as he peers over a cliff at an alien mega structure in the opening seconds of the trailer, before wrapping up the two-minute visual joy ride with: "This is definitely bigger than the last one."

We couldn't agree more.
