How's this for a birthday bargain -- Taronga Zoo will give everyone $1 entry on their special day in 2016 as part of the zoo's centenary celebrations.

Taronga Zoo opened in Mosman, Sydney in 1916 and chief executive Cameron Kerr said staff wanted to thank all the visitors who had been through the gates, from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Dr Jane Goodall and Sir David Attenborough.

U.S. model Gigi Hadid visits Taronga Zoo.

“We want to say thank you to the amazing public that has supported our wildlife conservation work for the past 100 years,” Kerr said.

“Every ticket to Taronga, even your $1 birthday entry, helps us continue to work towards a shared future for wildlife and people. In the next 100 years we want wildlife to not only survive, but thrive.”

From today people can register to receive a $1 voucher to use on their birthday and they'll also receive a birthday badge.
