If you’ve been feeling a little disheartened from all the rich and famous flooding your feed on their expensive yachts off secluded tropical islands, leave it to Lorde to put everything into perspective.
The Grammy-award winning artist who never fails to blow our minds with wisdom took to Instagram on Sunday night from her hometown of New Zealand where she was holidaying with family to remind us of her realness.
She wrote, “when you scroll through your feed and all the pretty famous boys and girls are on yachts or in saint barth's [sic] and you're at home where it's raining and you've never even been on a holiday to another country before, never been to a tropical island let alone saint barth's [sic] and actually you aren't even sure if you're spelling saint barth's [sic] right.”
She continued, “lol no 'shade' folks if i were on an island or in even nearish proximity to a yacht you would be hearing all the f**k about it just making fun of my own lameness.”

Her followers were quick to point out the “shade” Lorde insists she’s not throwing at “all the pretty famous boys and girls” was Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles who were snapped cosying up in a luxury yacht together while holidaying on the Caribbean island of Anguilla last week.
Jenner, 20, and Styles, 21, were first romantically linked back in 2013 but have remained tight lipped on the dating subject since.

Of course, the pop icon who just so happens to be Taylor Swift's BFF could’ve been talking about any number of A-listers -- Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse in Barbados, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin in St. Bart’s… but that’s not the point.
Instead, she used her platform to point out to her followers (all 3.2 million of them) that jet skis and fancy boats aren’t real life. And that actually, laughing at your own “lameness” can be pretty damn amusing (shout out to everyone spending the holidays couch-bound, six episodes deep into Jessica Jones).
