The polls have been open for almost a month, and as expected there's been equal parts scandal and excitement as the final weeks approach for triple J's annual Hottest 100 countdown taking place on Australia Day, January 26.

As most of you have already completed the crippling task of selecting just 10 tracks from 12 months' worth of music, now's time to plan the barbie, purchase a paddle pool from the local Toys 'R' Us and finally, ensure your speakers are fully functioning.

Bets are also well under way on what will take out the top gong. Front runners for the coveted #1 spot include Major Lazer, DJ Snake and MØ with 'Lean On,' Tame Impala with 'Let It Happen' and The Weeknd with 'Can't Feel My Face', as well as Courtney Barnett, Drake, RUFUS and Jarryd James all expected to earn decent spots.

Given the above is hardly based on any solid evidence, The Huffington Post Australia asked some local music talent who their top picks for 2015 are in the hope of gaining some intel...
