David Bowie's first major hit, 'Space Oddity', was released in 1969 when the singer was aged in his early 20s, but it continues to be one of the songs even a casual fan will have heard.

Fans have posted musical tributes to the star's tale of Major Tom, with guitars, harps, piano and ukelele.
