As the world pays tribute to the man who brought androgyny into our lives and gave people everywhere the permission to be weird and wonderful, it seems there’s not enough space on the Internet to mourn legendary rock star, David Bowie.

At 69, the music visionary and Grammy-award winning artist lost his 18-month battle with cancer on Sunday night.

Bowie’s final record, “Black Star” was released just last Friday, the date the musician celebrated his 69th birthday and just two days before his death.

In the wake of the news, Twitter and Facebook have been overwhelmed with tributes from Bowie fans around the globe while Spotify streams of Bowie tracks are up 2,700 percent according to a Spotify Australia and New Zealand spokeswoman.

The Brixton-born pop sensation not only brought us decades of music that will no doubt be played for generations to come, but a style legacy that forever influenced popular culture as we know it.

From politicians to some of the world’s most influential entertainers, his passing has literally turned the planet blue.

So, in honour of David Bowie’s life, HuffPost Australia looks back at 50 of his most iconic tracks.

RIP, Sir -- now let’s dance.
