While staying in a traditional hotel is quickly being replaced with innovative and more economical ways to travel thanks to things like Airbnb, the luxury of pulling up a pew, ordering a martini and enjoying the grandeur surroundings of a hotel lobby is hard to replace.

But who says you have to miss out just because you’ve opted for cheaper accommodation over the Hilton? Here, HuffPost Australia lists the best hotels for a pre (or post) dinner drink, whether you’ve booked a bed for the night or not.

Serving a diverse food and beverage offering as well as 24 hour service -- that’s right, it never closes -- Ovolo Woolloomooloo's central hub, Lo Lounge will make you feel like you’ve just stepped into London’s Sketch.

The Mayfair Hotel takes luxury to new levels and its rooftop bar, which opened in early December, is no exception. Hennessy Bar can be found on Level 13 of the Mayfair Hotel (45 King William Street, Adelaide).

With a specialist champagne cocktail menu, POP is the home of Veuve Clicquot in Adelaide. Expect chandeliers and French bubbles -- what more could one want? POP is open Friday & Saturday evening from 4pm to late.

Like tequila? You’ll love Stingray. They offer 50 in-house tequilas and there’s an appreciation class fortnightly -- not to mention the ocean views.

Named after the location (intersection of Russell and Collins Streets) and boasting a wine list drawn from the 2,700 premium bottle wine room, RuCo's courtyard and interior designed with dramatic sculpture artworks is all class.

The Art Series: The Schaller Studio, Bendigo

This cafe style bar makes up the entrance to this funky hotel. Surrounded by original Mark Schaller artwork, sit by the fire in winter, enjoy a local beer and soak up that country air.

While not quite a hotel, this villa and restaurant opened in 1979 and overlooks Bass Strait, set high in the Otways above the Great Ocean Road. It’s open from 6pm weeknights and lunchtime on Saturdays and Sundays.

Located in the lobby level of this five-star hotel, order from the Pacific-inspired cocktail list or go for a local brew.
