A two-year-old boy has died after a concrete wall collapsed on him on a Queensland property on Tuesday night.

The toddler suffered critical head injuries on the Irongate farm -- 50 kilometres west of Toowoomba.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and the boy was airlifted to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stabilised but critical condition at about 6pm, the Queensland Ambulance Service told The Huffington Post Australia.

But Queensland police confirmed the two-year-old died in hospital at about midday on Wednesday.

"It certainly is a traumatic set of circumstances, and our hearts go out to the family concerned," Stephen Johns, Senior Operations Supervisor for the Queensland Ambulance Service told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

"It's traumatic not only for the family, but also for our paramedics that respond to cases like that."
