Police are searching for an elderly man who allegedly inappropriately touched a 13-year-old boy in a Queensland supermarket.

On Wednesday Queensland Police released CCTV photos of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries, and are urging anyone with information about the alleged assault to come forward.

The incident occurred at a supermarket on Main Street in Buderim -- a small town on the Sunshine Coast -- at about 10:30am on Thursday.

A man seen in the area, who authorities believe can assist with inquiries.

The vehicle the man was seen driving in the area.

The man is believed to be in his late 60s or early 70s and was shopping with an elderly woman.

Authorities told media the man was wearing glasses, an orange shirt and grey shorts. He is about 168 centimetres tall.
