Lisa Wilkinson Challenges Clive Palmer To Personally Pay Sacked Workers

Lisa Wilkinson has slammed politician and beleaguered mining magnate Clive Palmer in a live interview, challenging him to pay sacked workers' entitlements out of his own personal fortune.

Palmer's business Queensland Nickel last month went into voluntary administration, making more than 200 workers redundant, but not before the business made the year's largest donation to Palmer's political party the Palmer United Party.

In the heated exchange on the Today Show Friday morning, Palmer denied his business made the hefty political donation while knowing the business was in strife, with Palmer instead accusing Wilkinson of being part of a stitch-up by News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch.

"I've been criticised in the press, it's a fabrication by the Murdoch press and media. It's untrue," Palmer said.

When Wilkinson, who is HuffPost Australia's editor-at-large, said she didn't work for Murdoch, Palmer replied:

"Let me answer you your question, you will get a bonus from Rupert and the people who employ you."

Wilkinson simply replied: "Australia thinks you're a joke at the moment".

Joke or not, please enjoy this series of memes featuring Palmer counting his money in Parliament.
