Police Hunt For Killer After Fatal Geelong Shooting

'Bleeding To Death': Man Gunned Down On Geelong Street

A shooter is on the run near Geelong in Victoria after a man was fatally shot on a suburban street.

Neighbours heard gunshots on Anakie Rd in Bell Post Hill, a southern suburb in the regional Victorian town, where the wounded man reportedly collapsed, the Geelong Advertiser reported.

News Corp Australia reported it was believed the victim was shot in the stomach.

One woman, who heard the shots from her home, said she ran out to help the stricken man.

"'He said 'I feel like I'm bleeding to death', I said 'don't speak any more' and everyone was like trying to say 'who shot you? How do you feel?'" she told radio station 3AW.

According to the Geelong Advertiser, numerous teenage girls were interviewed at the scene.

At a media conference this morning, police said the victim was in the middle of the road before he was gunned down.

Police told the ABC they were trying to contact the victim's family.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
