Greens deputy leader, Senator Scott Ludlam, is very happy about environment minister Greg Hunt being named 'Best Minister in the World.' Ludlam is so happy, in fact, he is proposing February 10 be enshrined and immortalised as a public holiday to commemorate Hunt's win.

Wait, no. That can't be right.

Ahhhh.... sarcasm.

In an "address to the nation," Ludlam attacks what he calls the "brazen audacity" of Hunt's award, citing the dismantling of the carbon tax, approval of "the world’s largest coal mine," the approval to dredge near the Great Barrier Reef and other environmental reforms that have taken place on Hunt's watch.

"I know you will join with me in congratulating the Turnbull government for its outstanding contributions to political performance art, as the nation rises to its feet to acknowledge Greg Hunt’s award in the UAE overnight."

"Best Minister IN THE WORLD. It may sound like something his mum came up with, but on behalf of the Australian Greens I am asking you to join me in calling on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to declare February the 10th a public holiday to mark this unique occasion," he said.

More shade was to come.

"My hope is that the statues built in Mr Hunt's honour in every capital city will be placed far enough above sea level that generations to come can honour him," Ludlam said, dropping a climate change/rising sea levels joke.

"But of course this is bigger than just Mr Hunt, and in fact there has never been a more exciting time for this kind of high level political satire. It is like Philip Ruddock being given a high paid job lecturing the global community about human rights. The Greens are encouraging the Prime Minister to nominate Tony Abbott for the Nobel Peace Prize, and I am looking forward to Bronwyn Bishop’s long overdue recognition by Transparency International."

It's not the first time Ludlam has jumped in front of a camera to make a joke, while also making a point in the process. Remember that time he did a comedy rap about the G20?

And just because, here he is just absolutely demolishing the dancefloor as DJ S-Ludz at a WA music festival in December.
