'Don't Blush, Tom': Chris Gayle Clearly Has No Regrets Over The Mel McLaughlin Saga

In news that's just come to hand, Chris Gayle is still a total dickhead.

The West Indian batsman made a name for himself in a bad, bad way during Australia's Big Bash League after a sexist interview with Channel Ten commentator Mel McLaughlin.

Gayle conducted himself in incredibly poor taste as he hit on McLaughlin several times in a sideline interview, referring to her eyes, asking her to join him for a drink and then telling her: "Don't blush, baby."

The controversial opening batsman then issued a classic non-apology the following day, saying he'd never intended to be disrespectful and played off the exchange as a "simple joke" before storming off from the media gathering.

Gayle then shunned future interviews with Ten, the host broadcaster for the Twenty20 summer league, and showed no remorse -- appearing with Jarryd Hayne in Sydney wearing an offensive t-shirt before posting a feisty defence of his conduct on Instagram after he finalised his league commitments.

And it's now clear that Gayle really has no regrets over the incident, making a direct joke of it in a sideline interview during a Pakistan Super League T20 match on Saturday night.

"Thanks Tom, don't blush, Tom," Gayle told the interview before letting out a very self-satisfied laugh. His team, the Lahore Qalandars, beat Peshawar Zalmi -- but Gayle was dismissed for a golden duck.

The look on Gayle's face said it all, and perhaps the studio were unaware of the context of his comment as the host broadcaster shared in the laughter once the camera cut back to the press box.

And just another reminder of how awkwardly unprofessional Gayle's original comment was:

Jog on.
