On Wednesday Foxtel confirmed the news that its homegrown music station, Channel [V] would be ceasing operations after 21 years.

Responsible for launching the careers of Osher Gunsberg, Yumi Stynes and Danny Clayton through its national presenter search, the subscription network’s decision comes as it attempts to adapt with an increasingly competitive music consumption landscape.

“We are making some changes to our music channels on Foxtel. Starting from this Saturday, February 27 you will begin to see some changes to Channel [V].

"Following on from that, from March 25 we will no longer use the Channel [V] brand, which will change to V Hits and V Hits +2,” a Foxtel spokesman told The Huffington Post Australia.

Foxtel’s MAX, CMC and smooth will remain with no changes being made to these channels.

Past presenters including Danny Clayton, Jane Gazzo and Osher Gunsberg paid tribute on Wednesday.
