Premier's Puppy Love As Mike Baird Gets A Little Bit Cute With Adoption Dogs

There's a serious cute overload going on at Premier Mike Baird's office, with two cheeky puppies 'helping' him work.

In Baird's wood-paneled office, lined with leather bound books, the cheeky puppies set to work distracting him from his laptop and phone.

But Baird said pups like this were actually an important part of his job in that his government was instigating a parliamentary inquiry into animal breeding practices in NSW.

"Puppies are obviously insanely cute (and these ones are part of an animal adoption program) but, sadly, not all puppies get the happy life they deserve," Baird said in a Facebook post.

"We recently instigated a parliamentary inquiry into animal breeding practices in NSW."

He announced a review into penalties and enforcement measures to fine or shut down dodgy operators.

"It is simply unacceptable for people to be treating puppies or other animals in a cruel manner in an attempt to make a quick buck. We need to act and we will," he said in the post.

He also put in a good word on behalf of his staffer Nigel, who wanted to talk his wife into letting him take a puppy home for his birthday.

The post has gone bananas on his page, with followers admitting crushes and heaping praise.

It's a change from last week, when Casino Mike was trending on Twitter as the nation's musicians banded together to condemn the Baird government's lockout laws that applied to Sydney nightlife except casinos.
