ReXist360: The New Resistance Training That'll Put Your Regular Squats To Shame

This New Style Of Resistance Training Will Put Your Regular Squats To Shame

Squats and lunges were so 2015.

This year's new fitness trend is all about upping the ante by strapping some bands around your thighs and cutting your workout time in half (yep, you read that correct -- half!).

ReXist360 is the latest fitness craze out of New York City and is here to give your lower body a serious workout.

While it might feel a little awkward to begin with, the resistance bands are designed to move with your body, allowing for a more intense workout, promising to achieve twice the results in less time.

“ReXist360’s training system was originally created for athletes. It resembles the elasticity to skeletal muscles due to the product width. The bands help develop the muscles at each phase of the running process which is essential for greater speed and quickness, without the unwanted pressures added to your back, knee or ankle joints,” Ben Lucas, founder of Flow Athletic told The Huffington Post Australia.

They also help you to achieve a better range of motion and flexibility.

With three different strengths of resistant band, the interval-style 30-minute workout includes mountain climbers, jumping jacks and high knees as well as everyone’s favourite -- burpees.

"The system enhances every exercise in all planes of motion. This means it will help develop all of the muscles in the area rather than just focusing on the main ones such as the quad or hamstring to ultimately make you stronger," Lucas said.

There’s squats and lunges too but not the kind you’re used to. The bands will make them harder, so you’ll have to use more force for each movement.

Expect to sweat. No more than a regular workout though.

And prepare to be sore 24 hours later. Your muscles, particularly your glutes, hamstrings and abs will hurt. But not like the normal workout pain. This is deeper and even a little bruise-like.

In the fitspo world this translates to evidence of a solid workout, so go you.
