Police have charged two people as they continue to search for a man wanted over the fatal shooting of an innocent father in Sydney's southwest.
Qusay Al Mhanawi was killed on Friday night after a stray bullet struck him during an altercation between three other men in Heckenberg.
Police believe 46-year-old Mr Mhanawi was on his phone inside his car when a motorist fired on two men crossing the street about 6.30pm, with a stray bullet striking the Iraq-born father.
Police are searching for 28-year-old Matthew Russell after he was seen driving a silver Holden near where the shooting took place.
Police on Saturday night arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man at home in Green Valley after a taskforce was set up to investigate the shooting.
Officers also located and seized a Holden Commodore without registration plates in the garage of the property.
On Sunday morning, police said the pair had been charged with concealing an indictable offence.
Russell remains on the run and police are urging anyone who sights him not to approach him but to call Triple Zero (000).
In the wake of the shooting, at least 20 friends and family members gathered on the street where the shooting occurred to mourn Al Mhanawi.
His family is said to be "absolutely devastated" about the loss of the family man who leaves behind a wife and a 2-year-old child.
