hot cross buns

You might like them plain, toasted with melted butter on top, made on a brioche base or filled with citrus peel. Or maybe you prefer the chocolate variety (who can blame you) over the traditional sultana-studded bun. But, chances are, you haven’t tried them with these scrumptious trimmings.

Hot cross buns with peanut butter and jam

PB and J, it’s a classic combination and, as it happens, it tastes particularly splendid on a hot cross bun base. The bun's cinnamon and mixed spices brings out the nutty peanut butter, while the sweet jam complements the rich flavours. Seriously, try it.

  • Hot cross buns (try traditional or chocolate chip)
  • Peanut butter
  • Strawberry jam
  • Toaster

METHOD

  1. Slice hot cross buns in half and toast.
  2. Spread peanut butter on top, followed by a dollop of jam.
