Malcolm Turnbull Is Back To Bloody Loving Public Transport Again

As we've shown you before, our Prime Minister just loves public transport. Whether the bus, train, ferry or a combination of all three, Malcolm Turnbull loves only one thing more than catching public transport -- and that is taking pictures on public transport.

But it seems that the pressures of the Prime Ministership have recently cruelled Turnbull's ability to whip out his Myki or Opal card, lash out on a non-peak fare and take a relaxing trip on the mass transit mode of his choice. Whereas in August 2015 -- just weeks before he ascended to the top job -- we calculated that 12 percent of his tweets that year were related to public transport, we've seen only one solitary Turnbull train tweet thus far in 2016.

That is, until yesterday. Because the Turnbull train tweets are back with a vengeance, baby! And just in time for the escalating election season. From Sydney's Central Station to Sutherland and Glenbrook to Bondi, train Turnbull has been everywhere in the last 24 hours.

And if you're wondering -- like I was this morning -- how the most important man in Australia can just jump on a train, and what the security arrangements are, an eagle-eyed Reddit user has the answers. A photo purportedly on a train from Bondi Junction shows Turnbull doesn't travel with a massive security detail, nor are other passengers cleared from the PM's carriage. A tablet and Bluetooth headset are all that he carries with him; he even sits on the aisle seat.

As the election campaign ramps up, expect to see more of Turnbull on the trains and buses, pressing the flesh with the citizenry. Keep an eye out, too -- if you spot him, let us know!
