Ever wanted to call a random Swedish person and ask them how their day is going? Or if they find IKEA flatpacks as frustrating as you do?
Yes? Well now you can.
Sweden has become the first country in the world to introduce its own phone number so that people from all corners of the globe can be connected to random Swedes and have a chat.
So far since its launch on the 6th of April, a total of 10,500 calls have been made, with 35 percent of these coming from the U.S.
When you call, a telephone switchboard connects you to a Swede who has registered to be an ambassador for their country through the Swedish Tourist Association.
Potential topics of conversation could include anything from the Northern Lights, meatballs, politics, skiing, gay rights or parental leave.
The Swedish Number was introduced by the Tourist Association to celebrate the 250 year anniversary of the abolition of censorship.
