Paratrooper Crashes In SCG Ahead Of Swans Versus Eagles Match

A paratrooper crashed in the middle of the Sydney Cricket Ground in a pre-game ANZAC observance service on Saturday afternoon.

The army parachutist -- from the Royal Australian Navy's Red Berets -- was reportedly part of a squad of jumpers set to deliver the game ball during Anzac Day commemorations prior to the Sydney Swans and West Eagles match.

He landed heavily and “hit the turf at serious speed”.

The clash was delayed by ten minutes as the parachutist was lifted on to a stretcher and taken to an ambulance.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

More to come.
