Good news: A dark lip suits all skin types.

It's a beauty trend that attracts the brave while igniting a deep sense of hesitation for us regular mortals, but truth be told a dark, sultry lip is sometimes all it takes to give your outfit the edge it's missing.

It's also one of the few seasonal trends that seamlessly suits everyone.

"Dark lips are extremely versatile and suit both pale and olive skin types. As long as it is worn with confidence," Tobi Henney, L'Oréal Paris Makeup Director for Australia told The Huffington Post Australia.

Henney, who waves her makeup wand on the likes of Margaret Zhang, Shanina Shaik and Bambi Northwood Blyth said when it comes to rocking a dark lip during the day, a gloss works better whereas for the evening, look for a matte finish.

Deep berry, plum or red tones work well, and keep the rest of your makeup minimal, although don't skip out on the bronzer or blush.

The next step to dipping your toes into the trend? Erasing any nightmarish vision you have of becoming Edward Scissorhands and following Henney's pro advice below.
