Kate Upton has announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Justin Verlander, a professional baseball player while on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala Ball on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old actress and model confirmed the news to E! revealing a large diamond sparkler, the standout accessory to her custom silver Topshop gown.

"I'm really excited, he asked me right before season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while. So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world," Upton said.

Upton began dating the Detroit Tigers pitcher in 2013. Asked whether they had started wedding planning yet, Upton said they were in no rush to get to the altar.

"We know nothing yet. We’re enjoying the engagement period," Upton said.

Upton debuted the engagement ring on the red carpet of the 2016 Met Gala Ball.

"The Other Woman" actress shared a sweet picture prior to her arrival at the Met Gala Ball, strategically hiding her left hand (and rock) behind a pooch.

In a world where few things are kept sacred, we give Kate an A+ for the element of surprise.

Congrats to the happy couple!
