Police have released CCTV footage of a masked man throwing Molotov cocktails at sleeping homeless people, with the hopes of catching the perpetrator.
A NSW Police Force statement said there was a spate of incidents around February this year at Tom Uren Place.
The statement describes the location as "an area where many of Sydney's homeless gather to sleep at night".
A Molotov cocktail is an improvised bomb, where flammable liquid is lit in a vessel that breaks when thrown.
In the footage, a figure can be seen running towards a group of people sleeping rough and throwing the improvised bomb.
Three Molotov cocktails were thrown but police said no one was seriously hurt.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
