An Egyptian forensic official has said that human remains retrieved from the EgyptAir Flight MS804 crash site indicate that there had been an explosion on board.
The official is reportedly part of the Egyptian investigative team and has personally examined the remains at a Cairo morgue.
The official told Associated Press that all 80 pieces of human remains brought to Cairo are small and that "there isn't even a whole body part, like an arm or a head".
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he isn't authorised to release the information.
He concluded that "the logical explanation is that it was an explosion".
The plane, which was travelling from Paris to Cairo, vanished from radar screens early on Thursday as it entered Egyptian airspace over the Mediterranean.
No distress call was made by the pilots and experts believe the crash was most likely the result of a terrorist attack.
On Monday, it emerged that the aircraft had "we will bring this plane down" scrawled on the side of it in Arabic.
Political activists who worked at Cairo Airport were said to be behind the graffiti, written on the underside of the jet about two years ago.
All 66 people on board, including 30 Egyptian and 15 French nationals, are believed to be dead.
