A man who spent five nights missing in a Queensland national park has been found safe and well, police said.

The 58-year-old Logan man called police on Saturday night to say he was lost in the Lamington National Park.

However search and rescue crews were unable to find him when they went searching on Sunday morning.

Up to 30 police, State Emergency Service volunteers and helicopter crews searched a wide area of the national park without success since Sunday.

The ABC reports 16 professional hikers joined Thursday's search, which was led by police, SES volunteers and National Parks staff focused on 30 square kilometres that had previously been searched.

It is understood the man has been taken to hospital.
