There is something spectacularly bohemian about street art.

Not only does it offer a colourful escape from the concrete jungle, but it gives off a vulnerable sense of a city's culture and identity (without the hefty entry price of a famous landmark).

Sure, the Whitsundays, Sydney's Harbour and Uluru have the official honour of being perhaps the most photographed spots in Australia, but in order to give your Instagram feed that bona fide wanderlust glow, swap the tourist spots for the sidewalk.

Bondi Beach, Sydney

Sydney's famous Bondi Beach promenade is home to a bunch of murals by emerging and well-known artists. The site dates back to the 1960s and encourages artwork that brings out the vibe and culture of the Bondi community. In general, each mural is erected for six months' minimum.

Bolton Street, Newcastle

Melbourne street artist Adnate is responsible for this eight storey masterpiece at Newcastle's Miromoaa Language and Technology Centre.

Craft Bar, Gosford

This was the first ever commissioned mural for Sydney artist, Scott Nagy. Since then, his work has popped up all over New South Wales, from Cronulla to Newtown.

Olcott Lane, Toowoomba

Claire Matthews resides on the Sunshine Coast and created this cuddly mural as part of First Coat 2016.

Winn Lane, Fortitude Valley

Brisbane's street art scene is thriving and this guy, erected in Winn Lane is just one of its many gems.

Preston Market, Melbourne

"Jess" under the moniker of 23rd Key is a 26-year-old artist with an impressive number of accolades to her name. This piece entitled "Taste the Rainbow" can be found at Melbourne's Preston Market.

Hosier Lane, Melbourne

Another work of graffiti genius by Adnate, this portrait of an Indigenous boy from Melbourne's northern suburbs overlooks Birrarung Marr, a significant Aboriginal site in Victoria.

The Maid and Magpie, Adelaide

South Australia was gifted with its very own 11 metre tall Starman portrait by local artist Lisa King, plastered on the northern wall of The Maid and Magpie.

Nils Westergard, a contemporary street artist from Virginia is best known for his work in both the U.S. and Australia. If you look closely, you'll see he tags all of his work with a small butterfly, which originated from a painting he did in high school.

Blackforest Drive, Woodend, Victoria

As part of "Art of the Mill" an inaugural group exhibition presented by No Fixed Address Gallery, 23rd Key created this work of stencil art in country Victoria.
