The Boys Are Back In Town. Well, Almost.

Oakeshott. Windsor. Katter. Wilkie. Nostalgic, anyone?

Guess who just got back into the game?

Yep, Rob Oakeshott. Well, kind of. The former Independent is attempting a political comeback, announcing on Friday he will contest the New South Wales seat of Cowper which you can read all about here.

But this also means something else. The boys (who held the balance of power in the Senate) are almost back in town.

Well before the days of the Palmer United Party and Jacqui Lambie Network there was Tony Windsor, Rob Oakeshott, Andrew Wilkie and Bob Katter tok shook things up in parliament.

Oakeshott, Wilkie and Windsor -- despite holding the deceiving titles as Independents -- helped Julia Gillard form a minority government with the Greens back in 2010.

Just before the 2013 election, Windsor and Oakeshott announced their retirement from politics, both penning books signifying the end of their political careers. Joke's on us, right?

Remember Oakeshott's departure speech? Let us refresh your memory.

Katter and Wilkie were reelected for another term, and are running again at the 2016 election.

After Barnaby Joyce became Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the National Party in February, Windsor announced he would recontest Joyce's seat in New England.

And with Rob having another Oakeshott at politics, the announcement sealed the boys officially getting back together (if they successfully reclaim their seats which is yet to be seen).

With Senate voting reform changes, the new Nick Xenophon Team and the possibility of the boys getting back together, Parliament House is in for a ride.
