5 Things To Get Excited About In 'Finding Dory'

Aside from Ellen DeGeneres. Obviously.

Did you love 'Finding Nemo'? Of course you did. Nobody didn't love that movie. Ten bucks says the grinchiest of grinches still found joy in the 2003 Pixar smash hit about a clownfish who sets out on an epic adventure across the ocean in order to find his fishnapped son.

Ahh, those were the days.

And shortly, as you've no doubt heard, you'll be able to get your Dory/Nemo/Marlin fix all over again, with the much-anticipated sequel 'Finding Dory' due to be released in Australia on June 16, 2016.

This time, the journey centres on the forgetful Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) who suddenly remembers she has a family. Accompanied by Marlin (Albert Brooks) and Nemo (Hayden Rolence), she sets out across the ocean, 2003-style, in order to track them down.

While any one of the released trailers is probably enough to have you counting down the seconds until your big underwater reunion, The Huffington Post Australia can also share some exciting things to look forward to in order to *tide* you over in the meantime.

1. A tasty prelude

Want our advice? Don't be late.

There is a very sweet, very funny short film before the opening credits you won't want to miss.

2. Baby Dory

As adult Dory remembers more and more of her childhood, we get to meet Dory as a young'un, who is every bit as adorable and forgetful as you'd imagine.

3. Guest appearances

One of the most thrilling things about 'Finding Nemo' was the top-notch selection of entertainment royalty who lent their voices to various roles. (Some of which amounted to only a few scenes).

While, sadly, not many make a return appearance for 'Finding Dory', there are a few delightful additions to watch out for.

Keep your ears peeled for the voices of Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Bill Hader, Idris Elba, Ty Burrell and none other than Sigourney Weaver.

4. Adult-only jokes

Like with any good family film, some of the gags in 'Finding Dory' are designed to go right over the heads of the little'uns.

Grown ups, enjoy.

5. Awesome Animation

Seriously, if talking fish were a thing, you'd think this was a documentary.

In 'Finding Dory', Pixar's animation team has outdone itself once again. In the midst of all the excitement of the story, don't forget to take the time out occasionally to appreciate just how well this thing is actually made.

6. Unlimited Ellen

OK, so you knew this was coming. She does voice the main character after all.

But in case you were wondering if Ellen's Dory is as awesome as you remember, she absolutely is.

More screen time also means we get to know Dory even better than before, from how she learnt her favourite 'just keep swimming' right down to her insecurities and fears.

While her character will probably forget she was ever the star of a major motion picture, you won't forget seeing her in one.
