Between finding a rental property that accepts your furry friend -- and a park close enough to give said friend the exercise he or she deserves -- pet ownership in high-density cities can be tough.

Particularly when one is potty training their pup.

Enter Fresh Patch: a dirt-free patch of grass, meant for indoors, which acts as a 24-hour live grass pee pad for your pooch.

The grass is locally grown soilessly using hydroponic techniques said to naturally absorb urine and control odours, with a fresh patch delivered weekly or fortnightly to owners.

Our target market is definitely the high-density living pet owner. We also get many customers with sick or old dogs, new puppies, dogs recovering from surgery and dogs going on vacation.

Not surprisingly, Fresh Patch spread like wildfire in the States following its product pitch on Sharktank last year, and this month it will hit the Aussie market.

"Our target market is definitely the high-density living pet owner. We also get many customers with sick or old dogs, new puppies, dogs recovering from surgery and dogs going on vacation," Daniel O'Connor, Fresh Patch Australia told The Huffington Post Australia.

O'Connor, who first got a glimpse of the product via an American friend's Snapchat said upon learning of Fresh Patch, it was a no brainer to bring it to Australia.

"When my two dogs (Hank and Stevie) were pups I had an artificial plastic grass toilet that we put on the back veranda. It needed cleaning everyday, it left an unpleasant smell and I had to train the pups to use it," O'Connor said.

A quick Google search lead O'Connor to Fresh Patch's founder, Andrew Feld.

"After a 24-hour dash to the States and back and investing $9,000 in a grass growing machine which went towards trials in growing our soilless grass, Fresh Patch will finally be available here, in Australia," O'Connor said.

On top of adding some lush, outdoorsiness to your abode, this fresh patch of greenery is eco-friendly, fully disposable and gets replaced when you get a new delivery each week.
