Though the ocean covers more than 70 percent of our planet, we actually know very little about the deep blue sea. What we do know is it’s a world full of beauty, mystery and magic.

And sometimes we get to witness that magic firsthand, through incredible animal interactions such as the one in the video below.

The stunning drone footage shows a pair of humpback whales swimming playfully through the water, breaching and gliding around an adult dolphin and its baby. It almost looks as though they’re playing a game of tag.

Though the video was originally captured off the coast of Hawaii in 2014, it was only recently posted to Facebook by the page “Life in the Hawaiian Islands.”

Whales and dolphins have been seen playing together in the past, according to the American Museum of Natural History, and dolphins have even been observed “riding” on humpback whales in waters off the coast of Hawaii.

While similar interactions have been captured on camera before, it's rare to see such a playful encounter -- especially from a bird's-eye view.

It just goes to show that in the underwater world, you never know what will happen next.
