Van Badham Abused By Trolls After Run-In With Steve Price

She's been flooded with hateful comments since Price called her 'hysterical'.

Columnist Van Badham has made an emotional video describing the torrent of abuse she's received since her run-in with Steve Price on Q&A.

Price disrespectfully called her "hysterical" on the live ABC panel when they were responding to audience member Tarang Chawla, whose sister was murdered in a domestic violence incident.

"My sister Nakita was stabbed to death by her partner in January last year with a meat cleaver. She was 23," Chawla told the panel on Monday night.

"How will politicians and the media play a better role in bringing about long overdue cultural shifts so tragedies like what happened to my family are not normalised?"

In the ensuing debate about attitudes to women, Price repeatedly spoke over the top of Badham and said: "Just because you're a woman, you're not the only one who can get upset about this" and "I think you're just being hysterical".

Price later said he had no regrets about what he'd said. Since Monday, Van Badham said she'd been abused online, reading out some of the offensive comments including the following comments.

"I'd smack the bitch in the mouth. I'd do it to a guy and equal rights means I can do it to a girl."

"With a mouth like that I'm surprised she hasn't become a victim of domestic violence herself."

"If her husband beat her up, I'd say 'good on him'."

"This is what my week has been like thanks to the comments made by Steve Price," she said.

"Cultural shifts have to happen and Steve, they've gotta start with you."
