Dramatic Video Emerges Of 'Unwell' Woman In Melbourne CBD Car Chase

Police arrested the woman at the scene.

Dramatic footage of a car chase in Melbourne's CBD on Tuesday morning has surfaced, after a passer-by alerted police to a woman appearing "unwell".

The member of the public flagged down a passing police van on Russell Street, directing them to a woman parked in a nearby car.

When police activated their lights the woman drove off in the car and refused to stop, driving up and down Russell Street making multiple u-turns.

Victoria Police told The Huffington Post Australia "stop sticks" -- which are used to puncture tires -- eventually brought the car to a halt.

Police smashed the car windows and sprayed the woman's face with OC spray (pepper spray) before she got out of the car.

She attempted to run away, screaming about her eyes stinging, before being caught by police and held to the ground.

The woman was arrested at the scene and has been transported to hospital to be assessed.

No charges have been laid and the woman remains in hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
