Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is still not happy though.

So the Census is back with a vengeance.

Okay, not really. It's just back up and running. But importantly, it is back and that is good to know, along with a couple of other important things.

1. The Census website was working again on Thursday afternoon

Australians were told by the Prime Minister on Thursday morning the Census would be up and running again "sometime today". While it has been almost two days since the site was shut down, the Australian Bureau of Statistics delivered on the PM's word.

So answer your heart away here.

Head of the 2016 Census program Duncan Young told reporters on Thursday evening more than 65,000 Australians had completed the Census since it's reboot. (More than two million Aussies had completed it before it crashed.)

2. If you were halfway through the Census when it shutdown, there is good news

For those Aussies twice as frustrated as the rest of us because they'd just spent 20 minutes filling out the national survey when the Census site shut down, we bring you some good news.

The site should have saved all of your questions.

"The form saves regularly throughout completing the form, so people can resume their forms using their Census logon number and the password provided when they started their form," Young said.

3. You still have more than a month to complete it

The Census won't close (and the consequential penalties for not partaking won't begin) until September 18.

"We have recruited some 38,000 field staff that will commence household visits in some areas from as early as this Saturday and visits will continue throughout August and early September in line with our original plans," Young told reporters on Thursday evening.

"This is to ensure that everyone has the materials and support they need to be counted in Australia's Census."

4. If you're sick of all the Census talk, you can find relief in this Sense Arse instead

And it hasn't been attacked, hacked or crashed in the last 24 hours.

Questions include "How many times did you hit the piss in the last week?" and "Where did you have your first ciggie?"

5. The Prime Minister is not happy and someone could lose their job

Malcolm Turnbull said "heads will roll" over the #CensusFail.

"I too am very angry about this. I am bitterly disappointed about this," were the words coming from the Prime Minister on 2GB Radio on Thursday morning.

"There are lots of people out there trying to find out who's to blame and which heads should roll and so forth."
