Netherlands-raised and Australia-based, Wafia is a vocalist we're about to hear a lot more of.

Residing in Brisbane, the 22 year old first came onto the scene with the release of 'Breathe In', a collaborative single with Melbourne's Japanese Wallpaper. The song was personally selected by Zach Braff for the official soundtrack to his 2014 feature 'Wish I Was Here', with the likes of Bon Iver and Cat Power on the same album.

In 2014 Wafia released her cover of Mario's 'Let Me Love You' which reached number 1 on the Hype Machine charts and has had over 5 Million plays.

After releasing her debut EP 'XXIX' in November 2015 (which reached number 1 on the iTunes Australia chart), the singer songwriter is back, this week releasing a collaborative EP called '(m)edian' with Ta-ku, The Australian musician, producer and photographer hailing from Perth. The Ep is available via Future Classic.

Ta-ku and Wafia have teamed up to release an intimate, five-track collaborative EP, '(m)edian'.

The Huffington Post Australia spoke to Wafia about her favourite jaunts around Brisbane, where she is currently located.

Anouk Cafe, Paddington

"Easily my favourite cafe in Brisbane. Their menu is seasonal and so varied. I've been going there at least twice a week for the past year and it's never let me down."

Avid Reader, West End

"When I go in I know I'm going to walk out with a book I didn't plan on buying that day."

Purlingbrook Falls, Springbrook

"So technically this is about an hour drive south of Brisbane but it can't go unmentioned, and the drive is well worth it."

Wagaya, Fortitude Valley

"This place is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. You order on a touch-screen and the food is so quick. Their menu is huge so if you're stuck try the scallops and garlic fried rice, salmon belly sushi, or chicken cutlet sushi."

Sono, Portside Wharf

"I can't name one but not my other favourite Japanese restaurant. This one is a bit more traditional."

"David Lynch's exhibition was shown there not too long ago. It's always worth checking out what they've got on. Their bookstore is incredible, too."

Churros Man, Southbank

"This guy is only around when the Southbank Markets are on, but I'd highly recommend waiting around for his family-run cart to show up."

Ta-ku and Wafia's (m)edian EP is out August 5 on Future Classic. Ta-ku will make his directorial debut at Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Sydney in September with a three-part visual presentation of (m)edian.
