Glass showers can look sleek and modern, but they can also end up as a magnet for stubborn soap scum and mineral deposits. When it comes to cleaning that cloudy residue, your instinct might be to reach for a harsh glass cleaner or pungent vinegar solution ― but neither is necessary to get a spotless shine, according to “Queen of Clean” Linda Cobb.

As Cobb has found in her decades in the cleaning business, there’s an easy way to get rid of the grime without synthetic chemicals or unpleasant odors. Her solution? Lemon oil.

Here’s what Cobb suggests:

  1. Put lemon oil on a scrubbing sponge and work it into the shower door.
  2. Leave it alone and walk away for about 30 minutes.
  3. Take a microfiber cloth or a heavy washcloth and start rubbing the door.

“It will rub the mineral deposits and all that soap scum right away,” she says. “You’ll be left with not only a clear shower door, but it’s going to leave a great coating on it so it’s easier to clean the next time.”
