Police are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead in Sydney's West today.

Emergency services were called to a property in Smithfield around 12:35pm, after the bodies were discovered by a relative.

A four-year-old girl was also found at the house -- unharmed and asleep.

"Investigations by Fairfield Local Area Command with assistance from the Homicide Squad are in their infancy and detectives are continuing to make inquiries to determine what has occurred," NSW Police said in a statement.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The neighbours said the couple had moved to the area about a year ago and there were no signs of trouble in the lead up to their deaths, according to 7 News.
