A Perth man who overheard two women making racist comments about Indigenous Australians has responded in the most perfect way possible -- by buying them a friendly pot of tea.

Jarred Wall and a friend, who are both Indigenous, were having lunch at Zephyr Cafe in East Fremantle when they overheard two elderly women chatting about Aboriginals.

Wall said in a Facebook post after the incident that the conversation was "less than distasteful with words like assimilation thrown around".

"I could have unleashed a tirade of abuse but that wouldn't have helped. Instead, I did something nice and bought them a pot of tea and left a little note on the receipt.

"Maybe these ladies will be a little wiser and think before they speak. Hopefully there won't be a next time!" Wall said in the post.

People have praised Wall on Facebook for his response to the situation, commending him for taking the higher ground.

"I admire your superb response. So much style and composure and presence of mind. Brilliant!" one woman commented.

"If only we could all show that amount of dignity and restraint, the world would be a much better place. I hope the ladies in question learned something from these two gentleman. Well done guys, your actions spoke much more than words every could!" another woman wrote in response.
