*UPDATE:* Sept. 24, 11 p.m. ā Kim Kardashian took to her website to state that sheās no longer āon the fenceā about who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election. She plans to vote for Hillary Clinton.
Additionally, while Wonderland magazine claims they never published the quote in question, BuzzFeed notes that the quotes did appear in a preview version of the article sent to select press.
*UPDATE:* 5 p.m. ā A statement attributed to Kim Kardashian was published on The Evening Standard website Thursday, stating that she was āon the fenceā about who she intended to vote for in the upcoming presidential election. The quote was cited in the context of an interview Kardashian did with Wonderland magazine, although the statement did not appear in either the online or print version of that publication.
Wonderland issued a statement on Friday disavowing the quote. The quote still appeared on The Evening Standardās site as of Friday afternoon.
PREVIOUSLY: Kim Kardashian has publicly been on Team Hillary since last summer, but it turns out she may not have completely made up her mind about who she plans to vote for on Nov. 8.
In June, Kardashian told GQ that she planned on casting her vote for Clinton, but conversations with her stepparent Caitlyn Jenner have apparently caused her to doubt her initial choice.
āAt first I thought, āOh my God, Iām so Hillary [Clinton]ā, but I had a long political call with Caitlyn last night about why sheās voting Trump. Iām on the fence,ā Kardashian said in a cover story for Wonderland magazine. (Editorās note: The quotes appear via The Evening Standard and are not in the online version of the story, however, The Huffington Post has confirmed their validity.)
Jenner has continued her lifetime affiliation with the Republican party, despite being one of the most visible faces in the transgender community. The former Olympian has repeatedly made her opposition to Clinton clear, stating she believes the Democratic nominee ācouldnāt care less about women.ā She further raised eyebrows in June when she praised GOP nominee Donald Trump for his attitudes toward women and the LGBT community.
And while Jenner is clearly a strong influence in Kardashianās life, the reality starās sudden consideration of Trump is disappointing but not entirely out of character. She told GQ that while she now votes as a Democrat, at one time she identified as a āliberal Republican.ā She also has a professional relationship with Trump, having appeared on āThe Apprenticeā in 2010, and can count herself among the few people the Republican nominee hasnāt badmouthed.
When Yahoo! Politics asked Trump to describe the reality star in two words, he couldnāt do it.
āWell, look, she was so nice to me,ā he said. āI mean every time I see her sheās just ā Iām just going to say she was always nice to me.ā
Meanwhile, when it comes to husband Kanye Westās presidential aspirations for 2020, Kardashian is also having second thoughts.
āLook at all the awful things theyāre doing to Melania [Trump], putting up the naked photos [of her]ā¦ā she told Wonderland. āIāll say to Kanye: āBabe, you know the kind of photos theyād put up of me!ā... I donāt want to put words in his mouth, but Iām pretty sure [he would run for] the Democrats. Maybe independent? I donāt know how serious he is about it. Weāll see.ā
